We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present, and acknowledge their ongoing connection to land, water and community.

Emergency Call
Firefighters
All volunteer firefighters are required to complete the CFA’s General Firefighter course in order to gain the necessary skills to start responding to incidents with the brigade. This course covers the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively participate in fire and emergency operations.
After completing the General Firefighter course, volunteers may choose to pursue further education in specialised areas such as structural firefighting, use of breathing apparatus, driving and advanced pump operation, and emergency medical response. These advanced courses allow volunteers to expand their knowledge and skills, and provide additional value to the brigade as we respond to a wide range of emergencies.
Brigade Support Team
The Brigade relies on a dedicated Brigade Support Team to assist in various areas such as fundraising, community education, and event management. While these members are not firefighters, they play a crucial role in supporting the brigade and its efforts to serve the community.
In addition to their support roles, members of the Brigade Support Team may also have the opportunity to assist with incident response in Incident Management roles, or as radio operators on the Mobile Command Vehicle, provided they have completed the necessary basic safety training. These support members provide valuable assistance to the brigade and help ensure that the brigade is able to respond effectively to emergencies.
Junior Volunteer Development Program
The Brigade’s Junior Volunteer Development Program (JVDP) is an excellent opportunity for children aged 11 to 15 years old to gain practical skills in firefighting and community service.
The program provides hands-on training in fire safety, firefighting techniques, and teamwork, giving young people a chance to make a positive impact in their community. The JVDP is an introduction to volunteering as a CFA member and can help to build important skills that will serve participants well throughout their lives.
The Program is held at the Edithvale Fire Station on Wednesday nights from 8-9 pm during school terms. For more information contact the brigade.
